Sitting on an isthmus, New Zealand’s largest urban centre of Auckland is surrounded by water, bordered by rural landscapes, and features some of the best of New Zealand scenery in the many nearby regional parks, ranges, and coastlines.

Auckland Film Studios makes an ideal site to run your production from when you are filming in New Zealand. We are 20 minutes from downtown Auckland and 30 minutes from Auckland International Airport.

Films and programmes that that have based themselves at Auckland Film Studios include Emperor (Producer Gary Foster), Mr. Pip, (Director/Producer Andrew Adamson), Legend of the Seeker (Executive Producer Rob Tapert) and Power Rangers Ninja Storm (Producer Janine Dickens).

Our array of stages, workshops, offices and canopy areas provide options for productions of all sizes. Auckland is home to 70 per cent of New Zealand’s production activity. From our site you have easy access to the best of cast, crew, equipment and pre and post production support.

Our proximity to a diverse range of locations in the Auckland region, many at fewer than 30 minutes, delivers stunning backdrops urban and rural, contemporary and period, and most everything in between. And just a short flight away are the awe inspiring snow capped mountains, forests, grassy plains, rivers and myriad other stunning locations as showcased in Sir Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Trilogies.
